Emily Shock comes to BDG

September 25, 2017

"We understand that it is important for our dancers to get a wide array of dance education -- that is why we bring in world-renowned dancers and choreographers right here to our studio in Pittsburgh! We believe in giving our students the best possible experience possible."

The first choreographer to visit Borelli's Dance Gallery for their 2017-18 dance season was Emily Shock.

Emily Shock is the Owner and Director of Applause Studios in Oklahoma City and the coach of the national champion dance team “Westmoore Pom”. In 2010, Emily’s choreography was recognized at the Capezio A.C.E. Awards in New York City. Emily has won Choreographer of the Year for the last two years by Industry Dance Awards. She is a renowned choreographer and master instructor that firmly believes in providing opportunities for dancers to make a living doing what they love in the place that they love.

The first time Emily came to Borelli's Dance Gallery was in October of 2013. Since then, Emily has made four visits to BDG, flying all the way from Oklahoma to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Emily has choreographed a number of our award winning routines, including "Breezy," which was awarded 1st overall at Beyond the Stars National Dance Competition in Atlantic City, "The Fight for You," awarded the highest scoring routine at Beyond the Stars regional competition, "Nothing Stays the Same," awarded 1st overall senior large group at Fire and Ice National Talent Competition, "Magnetically," awarded 1st overall at Turn it Up Dance Competition, and "Changing," which received a perfect score of 300 at Sophisticated Productions. And those are just some of the groups, and only some of the awards!

The girls were so excited to see Emily this past weekend. They worked Friday through Sunday learning new dances for the upcoming competition season. It's been a great start of Season 27 so far! Here's to the best season yet.

Emily has had a huge part in shaping the minds of our students as both dancers and artists. We are grateful to have Emily continue to visit our studio and inspire our dancers year after year! Already looking forward to seeing you next season, Emily!
